​British, Australian and European trained surgeon who performs all aspects of adult cardiac
surgery, with a specialist interest in Mitral Valve repair and Minimal access techniques. He
currently works as a consultant cardiac surgeon at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in
Brighton. He has a repair rate of over 95% for degenerative mitral valve lesions which include
complex bi leaflet prolapse, Barlows valves and infective endocarditis. He has an interest in
medical technologies and has set up the minimal access mitral program and uses a minimal
access approach for valve procedures. He lead and introduced patient centred digital monitoring
of wounds at University Hospitals Sussex. Additionally he has a strong interest in training and
has set up the first hybrid / VR based cadaver lab in Europe. He is an expert advisor for medical
technologies to NICE, part of the BISMICS steering group and ambassador to the charity Heart
Valve Voice.
